The Stone House Quilters' Guild was formed in 1994 as an informal gathering of quilters in Manassas. The name "Stone House" was chosen in honor of a Civil War landmark located in Bull Run Battlefield Park in Manassas, Virginia. The "Stone House" served as a hospital for troops of both armies during the war. Today, it still stands at the intersection of Sudley Road and Lee Highway and is occasionally open to visitors.

The Stone House Quilters Guild has monthly programs, workshops, and includes among its members many talented and gifted quilters. We participate in several community service projects, giving baby blankets to Prince William Hospital, lap blankets to Annaburg Manor, and larger quilts to the Prince William County Police Department for children in trauma. In the October 2004, issue of McCall's Quilting magazine, the guild was mentioned on the editorial page with a photo of a soldier quilt like many we have given to injured soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. In the wake of the Katrina disaster, members have donated quilts to Quilts International to be distributed to Katrina evacuees. In March, 2005, the guild participated in their first quilt show in association with the Cabin Branch Quilters of Woodbridge.
